Antoine Griezmann: France striker tells Atletico Madrid he wants to leave amid Manchester United interest – reports

30 May

Antoine Griezmann has told Atletico Madrid he wants to leave the Vicente Calderon this summer, according to reports.

The Spanish press claim Griezmann has made it clear he wishes to depart Atleti after three seasons with Diego Simeone’s side.

The 26-year-old, who scored 16 LaLiga goals this season, has been heavily linked with a transfer to Premier League side Manchester United in recent months.

Reports suggested a move would be on the cards as long as the Red Devils secured Champions League qualification, which they did by beating Ajax in the Europa League final.

In reaction to those reports, Griezmann released a statement on social media website Twitter to claim ‘all the rumours are unfounded’ – downplaying the chances of a transfer.

However, it appears a move is now likely, with the France forward asking to leave Atleti following the end of the Spanish football season.
