‘Forget it, he’s too important for me’ – Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho rules out Marouane Fellaini exit

Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho has insisted Galatasaray would have a better chance of appointing him as manager than it would to sign Marouane Fellaini this summer.

With Nemanja Matic set to join the Red Devils from Chelsea for around £40million, there is a big question mark over Fellaini’s future at Old Trafford.

The 29-year-old is in the final year of his contract and has been strongly linked with a move to Galatasaray, with reports from Turkey over the weekend even reporting that a switch has been agreed.

But Mourinho has rubbished the claims, saying Fellaini is ‘too important’ to allow him to leave.

The former Everton man opened the scoring on Sunday as United beat Norwegian side Valerenga 3-0 in a pre-season friendly.

Following the game, Mourinho said: “It’s easier for Galatasaray to get me than Marouane.

“If they need a manager, they can try and have a chance, but Marouane? Forget it.

“He’s too important for me.”
