Ross Barkley ‘wage demands are pricing him out of Tottenham switch’

31 Jul

Ross Barkley may have priced himself out of a move to Tottenham after making demands which would break Spurs’ tight wage structure.

Only captain Hugo Loris and star striker Harry Kane are on £100,000-a-week, which less than the offer rejected by Barkley from the Toffees.

The north Londoners remain keen on Barkley, but must find common ground on wages or the move will be dead in the water, according to the Daily Mail.

There are also issues with the transfer fee too, as Everton want £35million for a player who is entering the last year of his contract.

Spurs chairman Daniel Levy has urged caution against the massive transfer fees being paid by certain clubs and isn’t willing to be drawn into what he sees as a damaging culture engulfing the Premier League.

Everton boss says Barkley is ‘100 per cent’ leaving this summer, but Pochettino believes he can revitalise Barkley’s England career.

His last appearance was in the friendly against Australia in May 2016 and has since been an unused substitute seven times.
