West Bromwich Albion FC transfer news: Andrea Ranocchia closing in on move to Hawthorns after snubbing Huddersfield interest

14 Jul

Andrea Ranocchia is closing in on a move to West Brom, having snubbed interest from Premier League new boys Huddersfield.

The Inter Milan defender, who spent the second-half of last season on loan at Hull City, impressed during his brief spell in England and has been widely tipped for a return.

Despite being unable to prevent Hull from relegation, Ranocchia’s impressive displays have led to interest from around Europe this summer.

Both West Brom and Huddersfield are keen on the Italy international but, according to the Gazzetta dello Sport, the Baggies are close to completing a £5m deal.

Ranocchia has openly stated his intentions of joining a well-established top-flight club and given Huddersfield are embarking on their first Premier League campaign, West Brom were always favourites.

And it appears a deal could be completed next week, with the 29-year-old set to return to England under the guidance of Baggies boss Tony Pulis.
